A unique city experience
City Stargazing is a brand new thing brought to you by the makers of the Eastern Sierra Observatory and the California Dark Sky Festival. We’ve been pioneering the combination of stargazing and entertainment for seven years strong, and with the help of a modern day digital telescope, we’re excited to bring the cosmos to big cities across the country while you enjoy amazing views and an entertaining atmosphere — starting with 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar in New York City!
what to expect
The event will begin at 7:30 pm as the sunset fades into the nighttime sky.
The full open bar will run the entire three hours of the event, and hors d’oeuvres will be served from approximately 7:45 - 9:45 pm.
Beginning around 8:00 pm - once it’s dark - we’ll begin viewing objects.
Similiar to the (sped-up) video above, we’ll stay on each object about 20-30 minutes as it will come into view with more and more detail as time advances.
230 Fifth’s own house DJ will be playing music beginning around 8:30.
A giveaway will happen about mid-way through the evening.
There will be an information table set up for any questions you may have, and info about the objects we’re viewing on the foil trading cards. The 230 Fifth’s house DJ will be in action staring around 8:30 — allowing you to enjoy the included food, drinks, and lively atmosphere while the cosmos are beamed to your phone.
There is a chance we’ll have to substitute objects based on timing/obstructive views, etc.
The event ends at 10:30 pm — if you wish to stay longer, please review 230 Fifth’s weekend rooftop bottle service minimums.
With special guest — saturn!
On this night, Saturn will be at "opposition" — its closest approach to Earth. This means it’ll be brighter than any other time of the year! While our digital telescope doesn’t capture planets all that well, we’ll have something else setup for you to view Saturn and its rings with your own eyes (weather/obstruction permitting). Saturn is truly one of the best objects to view in all of the cosmos, and we’ll be in for a treat on this night to see it as bright as can be!
Rain or shine
This event will happen rain or shine, clouds or clear skies. In the event of rain, we’ll move inside to a semi-private area. In the event that cloud cover or anyting else obstructs our view, we’ll substitute previously captured objects while we wine and dine and enjoy the DJ.
Use promo code “stardust” to unlock $95 tickets featuring food, drinks, ambient music — and the cosmos captured in real time! 🤩
No extra service fees!
All sales are final and there are no refunds. You're welcome to give away/sell your ticket (at face value) if you cannot attend. The event will happen rain or shine. In the event of clouds/adverse weather, etc., the stargazing program will revert to images that we've previously captured. If it rains, the event will be moved to a semi-private area inside. If we have to cancel the event for some crazy reason from our end, you will receive a full credit towards any future City Stargazing event in any city. All attendees must be 21 years of age or over, and must bring a valid ID as is the policy of 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar.
Wine. Dine. Stargaze.
